Beyond Nations recognizes the importance of sustainable livelihoods in impoverished communities, which is why we established the Piggery and Livestock project. This initiative serves as a demonstration and training platform to support other programs such as the Women Initiative for Entrepreneurial Leadership and Development (WIELD) and the Men Development Support Club (MDSC). By focusing on livestock rearing skills training, the project aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources to generate income, improve food security, and enhance their overall quality of life.
Purpose and Objectives:
The primary purpose of the Piggery and Livestock project is to provide practical training and resources for community members interested in livestock rearing as a means of livelihood. The objectives of the project include:
- Offering training sessions and practical demonstrations to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for successful pig and livestock management, including animal husbandry practices, feeding and nutrition, disease prevention, and breeding techniques.
- Empowering individuals to establish and manage their own piggery or livestock enterprises, providing opportunities for income generation, economic empowerment, and poverty alleviation within their households and communities.
- Promoting the sustainable production of pork, poultry, and other livestock products to enhance food security and nutrition outcomes for participating households, ensuring access to affordable and nutritious animal protein sources.
- Encouraging the adoption of environmentally sustainable and ethically responsible livestock farming practices that support long-term resilience, biodiversity conservation, and natural resource management in rural communities.
