In response to a distressing call from Uganda in the dead of night, Beyond Nations embarked on a mission to bring hope and education to one hundred children in Makenke village. The caller revealed a heartbreaking truth: these children had been unable to attend school since the onset of the COVID-19 lockdown due to insurmountable school fees. Many families in the impoverished community could barely afford a single meal each day, let alone the cost of education.
The urgency of the situation weighed heavily on Mr. Leonard as he grappled with the enormity of the task ahead. Despite initial doubts and uncertainties, a deep conviction stirred within him, compelling him to take action. With unwavering faith and determination, he resolved to ensure that by the start of the new school term in January 2024, every child in Makenke would have the opportunity to receive an education.
Arriving in Uganda, Mr. Leonard wasted no time in mobilizing his team to devise a plan. Amidst scorching heat and jet lag, they convened to explore avenues for partnership with local schools. However, the staggering cost of school fees for just fifty-four children threatened to derail their efforts.
In the face of adversity, a bold proposal emerged: the creation of Pleroma Schools, a beacon of hope for the children of Makenke. With a vision to provide quality education and holistic support, Beyond Nations embarked on the ambitious endeavor of constructing their own school.
Transforming a barren plot of land into a sanctuary of learning was no small feat, but with unwavering determination and divine providence, Pleroma Schools began to take shape. Today, amidst the lush greenery of Makenke, seventy children, including thirty-eight on full scholarship, find refuge and opportunity within its walls.
The journey has been fraught with challenges, but the impact of Pleroma Schools extends far beyond the classroom. Beyond Nations provides essential support, including meals and porridge, ensuring that no child studies on an empty stomach.
As the school continues to grow and thrive, Mr. Leonard envisions a future where education is accessible to all. With a steadfast commitment to their motto, “impacting lives in all circles,” Beyond Nations aims to establish ten Pleroma Schools in ten years across Uganda’s impoverished regions.
Donors, sponsors, and partners are invited to join hands with Beyond Nations in their noble mission to transform lives and break the cycle of poverty. Together, we can build a brighter future for the children of Makenke and beyond.
