Joseph’s journey from uncertainty to hope
Joseph Kalisa’s story begins in the shadows of hardship. Born into a world already stacked against him, his earliest days were marked by struggle. His mother battled alcoholism during her pregnancy — a battle that left lasting effects on Joseph’s development. Her addiction strained the family, eventually leading to deep depression, and tragically, her passing when Joseph was just two years old.
With no parents to care for him, Joseph was left in the hands of his teenage sister, only 16 at the time, and his 10-year-old brother. They did their best — but they were still children themselves, and life quickly became a daily challenge for survival.
Then, something changed, That’s when Beyond Nations stepped in.
Through our child education sponsorship program, Joseph found more than just support — he found hope. Despite the setbacks caused by his early life and developmental challenges, he was given a second chance at childhood.
Enrolled at Pleroma Christian Schools, Joseph began to blossom. In a nurturing and loving environment, he has grown in ways no one could have predicted. Today, he’s a happy, thriving student in baby class — making incredible strides mentally, emotionally, verbally, and socially. His smile says it all.
Joseph’s transformation is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when compassion meets action. It’s proof that even the most difficult beginnings don’t have to define the future.
His journey is still unfolding, but one thing is certain: Joseph deserves a bright, full life. With continued support, he’ll grow into a confident, capable young man — one who will one day give back to the same community that rallied around him.
